Joseph A. Mariglio, MD, FCCP
Dr. Joseph A. Mariglio arrived in Reading in 1983 and was a founding physician in Berks Schuylkill Respiratory Specialists LTD. He received his BS from Creighton University, graduating cum laude with a double major in Biology and Psychology. He received his Medical Doctor degree from Creighton University Medical School in Omaha, Nebraska in 1978 and went on to complete an Internal Medicine Residency at Cornell-North Shore University Hospital from 1978-1981.
He served as Assistant Chief Medical Resident at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Institute in 1980. He completed his Pulmonary Critical Care Fellowship at the University of Rochester Strong Memorial Hospital from 1981-1983. Dr. Mariglio is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary, and Critical Care. He is a member of the active staff at Penn State Hershey St. Joseph Medical Center, The Reading Hospital and Medical Center and serves on the staff of HealthSouth Reading Rehabilitation Hospital and The Reading Hospital Rehabilitation Center.
He is a past president of the Medical Staff at Penn State Hershey St. Joseph Medical Center; he also serves as Medical Director of Pulmonary and Critical Care, Respiratory Care and Pulmonary Rehabilitation there. He is actively involved in the training of Respiratory Care students and helped found as well as serves as Medical Director of Respiratory Care at Reading Area Community College. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Clinical Educator Track at Jefferson. He is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, and a member of the American Thoracic Society and Society of Critical Care Medicine.
Dr. Mariglio was awarded "Best Medical Professionas in Berks County" in Pulmonary Disease for 2024.
