Andrew M. Figueroa, MD
Dr. Andrew Figueroa received his undergraduate degree from State University of New York (SUNY) at Stony Brook in Long Island where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and devoted volunteer time at the university hospital earning him the President’s Volunteer Service Award (volunteered over 500 hours in a 12-month period). He graduated from St. George's University, School of Medicine receiving his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree where he completed two years of basic science in Grenada, West Indies and two years of clinical clerkship experience in various New York/New Jersey hospital systems. During medical school he became interested in tutoring Immunology and enjoyed extracurricular activities like the Emergency Medicine club and International Trauma Life Support training. He then completed his internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. He subsequently pursued subspecialty fellowship training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at SUNY at Stony Brook in New York.
Dr. Figueroa is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Physicians, American Thoracic Society and the American College of Chest Physicians. Throughout his professional training he was involved in numerous research projects that focused on quality improvement and has delivered several lectures and oral presentations to peer-reviewed audiences. Additionally, he has published several papers, abstracts and posters that have been presented at both National and International Meetings.
Dr. Figueroa’s clinical interests include both evaluation and treatment of asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, sarcoidosis as well as lung cancer screening and diagnosis. He is proficient in a wide-array of clinical skills including Fiberoptic Bronchoscopy with Endobronchial Ultrasound and Electromagnetic Navigation and advanced critical care ultrasonography.
Dr. Figueroa is an active member of the medical staff at the Reading Hospital Medical Center and at St. Joseph Medical Center.
